Laundry can be frustrating right? From the stains to the sorting, honestly the only part I like about it is turning on the machine. There’s something satisfying about that bit. Well, okay, I also like when I take something out of the machine clean that was so dirty I wasn’t sure if it would come clean! That’s satisfying too, right?
Of course, if you add in traditional washing detergents packed with harsh chemicals and you’re not only dealing with potential risks for your family’s health but also an environmental conundrum courtesy of plastic waste, and chemicals down the drain. I’ve talked about sustainable laundry options on this blog before, but one of the things I LOVE about this one is how much it cuts down on packaging.
A solution that spells sustainability and safety:
These ingenious strips employ plant-based materials that dissolve quickly and without a fuss, attacking dirt, stains, and lingering odours. The lack of harmful elements here makes them a perfect choice for both the safety of your family and the wellbeing of our environment.
And seriously – they dissolve super easily, no residue left behind!
How much should you use?
They are super user-friendly.
In a top loader
Each strip is enough for a regular load of laundry.
Simply tear one off, place in the machine’s base followed by the dirty laundry, and start the wash.
If heavily soiled loads appear daunting, double up on the strips; on the other hand, for smaller piles, half a strip does the job.
In a front loader
Start with half a strip for a normal-large load, go down to a quarter of a strip for a small load (you look at it and be all, “can this be enough”? It is, I promise you.).
Water hard, soft, moderate
For hard water you may need more. Canberra water is “moderate” and these amounts work for me in our front loader.
If you have a magnet ball in your top loader (do not put it in a front loader!) you can pretty much use the front loader amounts. (A magnet ball effectively softens the water)
Handwashing
For those who prefer a hands-on approach or have delicate fabrics needing extra care, Norwex strips can be used for hand-washing too. Half a strip for a small sink of water (up to 4 Litres) is just right. You can use more or less depending how soiled your item is.
Fabric type
Regardless of fabric type – cotton, nylon, linen or synthetics and even delicate hand-washables, these strips handle them all. Safe for colours and effective in all water temperatures and conditions. Follow garment label instructions for silk and wool.
What makes Norwex strips stand out?
- They work!
- Consistent, pre-measured, spill-proof, they are so quick and convenient to use.
- Plastic-free and extremely compact packaging mean reduced carbon footprint AND less space taken up in your laundry and your recycling bin.
- Being so light the carbon footprint of the shipping is also cut down.
- Compact, spill free and light = fantastic for travelling.
An Environment-Friendly Ally:
Norwex strips are free from a host of undesirables like SLS/SLES, phosphates, chlorine bleach, EDTA, synthetic dyes or fragrances, to name a few. With none of the fillers found in most detergents, these strips dissolve completely without leaving behind residue which can otherwise cause havoc on our appliances and wrack up environmental damage, NOT TO MENTION fillers in detergent are one of the most common causes of skin irritation (synthetic fragrances are one of the others).
Packing the Natural Punch:
These biodegradable strips, encased in an FSC certified cardboard sleeve that ensures responsible forest management, are loaded with essential oils for a refreshing natural scent. With USDA certification, attesting to their significant content of plant-based and other renewable sources, rest assured your laundry solution has never been cleaner. The environmentally responsible packaging reaffirms Norwex’s commitment to not just eco-friendly products, but also sustainable practices in every step of the cycle.
