A magnet covered in hard green rubber, which softens water for use in washing machines and dishwashers. It reduces by half the amount of detergent needed and usually no rinse agent is needed in the dishwasher. Not necessary for front loading washing machines as not enough water passes through magnet ball.
WHERE TO USE: Use to prevent calcium molecules from building up in dishwashers and top loading washing machines, resulting in softer water and a reduction of 50-70% less detergent. Not for use in front loading washing machines.
HOW TO USE: For dishwashers, place in top tray and use half the detergent you would normally use.
For top loading washing machines, place in wash and use half the washing powder or liquid you would normally use.
You can experiment a little with reducing the amount further to see how much difference it will make, however with Canberra water I have found about a 50% reduction works well. (And note, I already was using less than labels say, because we don’t have very hard water here anyway.)
MAINTENANCE: It is recommended that you clean the ball by running a microfibre cloth through centre each month (a travel envirocloth is the ideal size) and run a small brush or pipe cleaner through the smaller holes. This helps prevent metal and mineral build-up.
